Plant Shoe Factory occurs.

The spectacular fire destroys one of the largest factories in the city at 309 Centre Street. The first alarm is sounded at 9:28 p.m. and the fire burns all night. It displaces hundreds of local artists, who had created live/work spaces in the building in recent years.
